Olivier Filleul, aged 46, studied economy in Rouen and Paris. His parents and grand-parents were teachers of art and painters. Olivier grew up in a world of painting and was always sketching on anything he could find. A drawing is worth a thousand words. A stressful career in estate management in Paris left him with the urge to get closer to nature. Restoring a longhouse near Saint-Malo (Brittany, France), he witnessed the destruction of a row of oak trees. Gouache painting seemed the obvious medium for him.The fragility and beauty of nature are the messages that he wants to convey. Century-old countryside, sunken lanes, seascapes, landscapes, ever changing skies, are his favourite themes. He can make an outstanding painting of an ordinary scene. Olivier exhibits in France, U.S. and U.K. mainland.
